On June 11, 2023, a gasoline delivery truck overturned and ignited beneath an Interstate 95 bridge in Philadelphia.

Gasoline spilled out from an unsecured hatch on the top of the tanker during the incident.

The crash killed the driver, disrupted transportation, and destroyed the bridge beyond repair.

An interim patch using lightweight glass nuggets allowed traffic flow until a permanent bridge opened in November.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is still investigating the cause of the explosion
