Meter News
A smart meter was installed in a flat in Riddhi Siddhi in Gorwa area of Vadodara after which people received a bill of 9.24 lakhs. And the old bill of the same flat used to be 1500 to 2000 every two months. Therefore, seeing such a huge difference, people have lost their trust in meters. And people are protesting against removal of these meters.
However, after a lot of opposition from the people, now DGVCL Company will install a checking meter along with the smart power meter. The reading of both the meters will be checked in 10 to 15 days. And thereby remove the misunderstanding between old and new meters.

Conclusion
Some officials say that there are different electricity consumption slabs in Gujarat. So the price varies from 0 to 200 volt units, due to which the first customer in a prepaid smartmeter feels that the bill is low, but after consumption of 51 units the price increases and after 200 units the price increases and the meter appears to be spinning fast. Another reason could be that if the previous bill of the customer is outstanding and the smartmeter is activated, then the bill of the previous month is also shown in the smartmeter, so people seem to get more of this bill.
